Getting So Big

Trey is growing up at light speed! He's learned how to give kisses now, and every morning I wake up to him drooling/kissing on the side of my face. I can't lie though, I love it, no matter how drooly, haha. He's crawling faster and faster every day now, and is learning how to chase me when I walk from room to room. He's been hanging out with his little friends more often, and he and his buddy, Cambria, even took some Easter pictures. Aren't they adorable? What you don't is that Trey kept trying to grab the flower off of Cammy's head and poor Cammy started crying and didn't want to have a photo shoot anymore, haha. Now that he can give kisses, Trey likes to climb on other babies and kiss on them. I'm definitely going to have to watch out for him when he gets older. His 9 month doctor appointment is coming up soon, but thankfully he doesn't have to get any shots at this one. I hate seeing him get shots, but I'm a lot better with it than Curtis is! The first time he saw him getting his shots he actually looked like he was tearing up, lol. Now that's a compassionate daddy.

Now that Trey's so much older I think it's time for me to start training him to sleep in his crib again. The first time I tried he started teething, so that definitely didn't work. It's going to be a hard road though, that's for sure. Every time I carry him into his bedroom he looks at the crib and cries, like he just knows that I'm going to just put him in there and leave. Poor baby. But he's going to have to learn, Curtis and I know that. It's really just a matter of how long we're able to handle him crying when we put him in there. Probably not very long, we're both big softies when it comes to his crocodile tears, lol.

And then there were TWO!

Trey's second tooth broke through last night!! I tried to get Curtis to feel it, but he couldn't, but it's definitely there. He was a day late this month, haha. He seems to do everything for the first time on one of his "month birthdays". Last month he got his first tooth on the 16th, so a little early, and he rolled for the first time when he hit 5 months. I'm almost worried that next month he'll be walking! NOOOOO! Lol, I'm definitely not ready for that, though I'm sure he is. Even though he's crawling around like a madman now he still gets hung up on things and gets frustrated, so when he can walk he's going to be a little terror! An adorable terror that I love more than anything, but a terror nonetheless.

Look at Me!

Someone was on the move this morning! Plus, not only did he crawl for the camera for the first time, he also put his binky back in his mouth by himself AND took a nap in his newly lowered crib! My tiny baby is growing up into a big kid so fast!

Mmmm, Crunchies...

Trey ADORES those little Maple Cinnamon Gerber crunchies. He's so funny, as soon as he sees the can he squeaks and bounces. Then he takes a tiny bite off of each one, but doesn't ever finish a whole one. Silly kid.

That "Baby Smell"...

When someone says you smell like a baby, the scent they speak of is usually that of baby lotion, baby oil, baby powder. Those aromatic products that send images of cherubic cheeks and drooly smiles. What does baby smell mean to me? Poop. Gross, smells like a grown man, seeping out of the diaper and down the leg poop. Throw in a little spit up for good measure and that's the smell I associate with babies now that I have my own. And you know what's crazy? That smell makes me happy! That means that Trey's diet and digestion are right on track, that he isn't suffering from constipation or dehydration. So bring on that glorious "baby smell"... and lots of Febreeze and Diaper Genie refills.

How did you get over there?!

Now that Trey knows how to crawl, one would think he'd be on the move all the time. Crawling to me when he cries so I can hold him, crawling after the dog who he loves to play with, crawling for his toys, everything! However I've yet to see him really crawl again. Sure, he inches his way forward every now and then, but mostly he leans forward on his arms, swings his butt around and sits back up. Somehow he's mastered this into an effective form of locomotion because one minute he's next to the TV and in the next he's by the door, ready to go! He can go from his tummy to sitting pretty easily now, making it hard to believe that he only did it for the first time a few days ago. Even though I'm glad my son is strong and healthy, hitting these new milestones every day, it makes me a little sad every time he learns something new. I miss my little snuggly man who fit so perfectly right in the crook of my arm, whose tiny (or not so tiny, lol) head needed to be supported at all times. He's more than halfway to a year already! I always heard everyone say "They grow up so fast" but I had no real understanding of the notion until Trey just decided to speed through his first year! Almost 3/4 of the way there and I still feel like he was born a few weeks ago. I wonder what he'll do next! Send his first text message? Update his first Facebook status? I jest, but I know that's only a few years away! SLOW DOWN, Time!

Late night.

Someone has decided that he doesn't want to sleep tonight. I think he may have whatever sickness has been bothering me all day. I'm hoping that his exhaustion will just take over so he can get some rest, but so far, no dice. I just want him to feel better...

He did it!!

Trey CRAWLED!! Unfortunately he was crying when he did it, but I sat right in front of him and inched back every time he reached for me. I felt kinda bad, but I know he was just fussing and not in any real discomfort. He did it again a little while later, but not nearly as far as the two feet he did before. But now that he can do it, hopefully he'll keep working at it until it's second nature to him. Hmmm, that does mean I'll have to chase him all over the house. Maybe I should tell him to hold off just a little longer.

Trey has been about 2 seconds from crawling for weeks now, and I just can't figure out what's holding him back. He could do it if he really wanted, but maybe he just doesn't want to, since that means that mommy still has to pick him up and carry him everywhere, lol. He can pull himself up into a sitting position now though. I came in to check on him when he woke up crying and he was just sitting there staring at the doorway. The next morning he was sitting up watching Spongebob, slapping me on the leg. I still have yet to see him actually get into that position, just like I haven't seen him roll onto his tummy, but every now and then I look at him and he's not the way I left him, lol. I still think he'll be crawling soon though, definitely before he hits 8 months in 2 weeks, but I guess we'll have to wait and see!
